My expectations for the roof was too big and was disappointed. However, it provides a very nice overview of the city. It was quite crowded when we visited it.
I definitely recommend visiting the terraces for an atypical view of the structure, then visiting the interior. Because the terraces are quite exposed to heat and sun, I recommend going earlier in the day.
The scale of this cathedral is staggering just walking around it would maybe take 5 - 10 minutes. The detail of the architecture on the outside is jaw dropping and then when you go inside you are equally amazed. I would say it’s in the top handful of religious structures in the world that has this detail and size to it. It’s simply amazing and a must see not just for Milan but for Italy.
