As advised by friends who live in Milan, we bought tickets in advance to visit the Duomo (long queues to buy tickets on the day) and opted for tickets that included access to the rooftop (terraces) and museum. We chose to take the steps to the rooftop, but you can buy a ticket that allows you to take the lift.

Decent experience. Could have been excellent though had there been lesser crowd. I did enjoy it but not to the fullest. Hence the 3 star rating.
